1. Short title

This Act may be cited as the Public Holidays Act.

2. Public holidays

The several days specified in the Schedule to this Act (hereinafter referred to as "public holidays") shall be kept, except as hereinafter provided, as close holidays in all court of law, in all Government offices and in all banks in Seychelles and shall be legal holidays for all persons throughout Seychelles.

3. Acts to be done on public holiday

Any act required to be done by or before a Judge or officer done on of any court or by or before any Government official upon any day public which is a public holiday may be lawfully done upon the day not being itself a public holiday, next following such first mentioned public holiday.

4. Public holidays falling on Sundays

Where any public holiday, except Sunday, falls on a Sunday the next following day, not being itself a public holiday, shall be a public holiday.

5. Power to declare additional public holidays

The President may by Order published in the Gazette from time to time proclaim that any day or days shall be observed in Seychelles as public holidays in addition to the days mentioned in the Schedule, and any day set apart by virtue of such order as a public holiday shall be so observed throughout Seychelles in the same manner and to the same extent as the days specified in the Schedule hereto.
