Statement by Chief Justice Mathilda Twomey on the occasion of her swearing-in, State House, 18 August 2015

 

I am honoured to have been appointed Chief Justice by President James Michel on the recommendation of the CAA. I am grateful for the trust and confidence that the President has placed in me. It is an office which carries onerous duties and great responsibility.

I acknowledge the learned men who have preceded me in this office. The expectations of the bench, bar and the Seychellois people in general are high. I welcome the huge challenge and will do my best to live up to it.

UniSey and SeyLII launch the first Andre Sauzier Legal Writing Competition

 

 

SeyLII is delighted to announce that on 5 October 2015, in a public event held at Palais de Justice, an inaugural legal writing competition for Seychelles was formally launched by Dr Marco Rizzi, Head of Law at UniSey.

The competition has been organised pursuant to the newly-concluded Memorandum of Understanding between SeyLII and UniSey for the production and publication of local secondary legal material.

UniSey and the Office of the Chief Justice sign MOU concerning the Bar Vocational Course and Bar Exam

 

On 5 October 2015, in a public event held at the Palais de Justice, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Seychelles and the Chief Justice signed an inaugural MOU concerning the Bar Vocational Course and Bar Exam for aspiring attorneys in Seychelles.
