NEW: Code of Conduct for Legal Practitioners in Seychelles


As of 29 July 2013, all legal practitioners in Seychelles are subject to a new Code of Professional Conduct, promulgated by the Chief Justice as the Legal Practitioners (Professional Conduct) Rules under the Legal Practitioners Act.

This is a ground-breaking step towards greater transparency, accountability and effectiveness in the conduct of the local bar. It provides a natural counterpoint to the Seychelles Code of Judicial Conduct, which came into effect in 2010.


Magistrate’s Court continues to sit in Victoria; Supreme Court and Court of Appeal at Ile du Port

Following the official opening of the new Palais de Justice at Ile du Port on 17 June 2013, as part of the National Day celebrations, the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal have completed the transition to the new building and are no longer sitting in Victoria. The Palais de Justice has ample public parking and is also accessible on the number 39 (Perseverance) SPTC bus route. The hours of service for court hearings and registry and cashier operations are unchanged.

Dr. Satyabhooshun Gupt DOMAH reappointed as Justice of Appeal


Dr. Satyabhooshun Gupt DOMAH, a Justice of Appeal in the Seychelles Court of Appeal, has been

re-appointed for a second five-year term beginning  4th October 2011. 


Apart from his extensive qualifications and experience, he’s familiar with the French civil law / Code Napoleon, which largely serves as the basis of the Seychelles Civil Code.
