THE REPUBLIC

VS.

STEVE DAVID

Criminal Side No. 574 of 2004.

Mr. H. Ally standing in for Mr. Potter for the Republic

Mrs. Antao for the 1st Accused

Mrs. Antao standing in for Mr. Herminie for the 2nd Accused

SENTENCE

CORAM: Gaswaga Esq.

This court has heard the mitigation as put across by the defence counsel, Mrs. Antao on behalf of A1 and A2. Both accused will be considered as first offenders. I have looked at the nature of offences before this court with which you were charged and I have also looked at their effect on the society in general. I take note that there is a public outcry with regards to such offences and in line with that I would want to impose a sentence that is suitable to cater for whatever happened to the complainant and the entire society as well. Having said that I will sentence each one of you to a period of five years in prison but the period each one of you has spent on remand should count towards these five years.

You are free to appeal against this conviction and sentence.

D. GASWAGA
