Republic v Murali (Criminal Side 36 of 2007) [2008] SCSC 72 (26 March 2008);
IN THE SUPREME COURT OF SEYCHELLES
THE REPUBLIC
VS.
VALLIPURAM MURALI
Criminal Side No. 36 of 2007
Mr. Camille for the Republic
Mrs. Antao and Mr. Hoareau for the Accused
RULING
Gaswaga, J
This court has considered the application by the defence counsel for the variation of the bail terms herein and the reply/objection thereto by the prosecution. Reference will be made to the reasons earlier on outlined in the case of Rep vs. V. Murali Cr. No. 30 of 2007.
In addition I take note of the value of the subject matter (over USD 180, 000/-) involved in this case and the time the accused has spent on remand as well as the prescribed sentence in case there were to be a conviction.
In the interest of justice I shall reduce the cash bail imposed earlier on to a sum of USD 50, 000/-. However, the other bail conditions still stand.
D. GASWAGA
JUDGE
Dated this 26th day of March, 2008.
