R v Lespoir (CO 24/2020) SCSC 293 (01 June 2020);


[1]        The accused person has been charged with one count of sexual assault contrary to section 130(1) read with Section 130 (2) (d) of the Penal code and punishable under Section 130(1) of the Penal Code.

[2]        The particulars of the offences are that Daniel Lespoir of Petit Paris, Mahe, on 25 March 2020 at Perseverance, Mahe, sexually assaulted a person, namely MKL of Copolia by the penetration of a body orifice of another for a sexual purpose namely by inserting his penis in the vagina of MKL.

R v Lai Lam (CO 63/2018) [2020] SCSC 283 (15 May 2020);


[1]       The accused Roland Robert Lai Lam has been charged with the following offences:

Count 1

Manslaughter contrary to Section 192 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 195 of the Penal Code.

The particulars of the offence are that Robert Lai Lam of Copolia, Mahe on the 20th October 2018 at Palm Street, Victoria, Mahe unlawfully killed another person namely Nagib Renaud, while driving motor vehicle having registration number S17801.

R v Vital (CO 63/19 ) [2020] SCSC 183 (10 March 2020);


[1]       The convict, Brian Christopher Vital has pleaded guilty to the charge of being in possession of heroin of a total net weight of 14.25 grams with a purity of 61% amounting to 8.69 grams of heroin giving rise to a rebuttable presumption of having been in possession of the same with intent to traffic contrary to section 9 (1) read with section 19 (1) of The Misuse of Drugs Act 2016 and punishable under section 7 (1) specified in the Second Schedule to the said Act (hereinafter MODA).
