G. DODIN, JUDGE

[1]        This is the sentence of the Court.  Considering the mitigating factors raised by Counsel for the convict; he has pleaded guilty and saved the Court’s time and expenses of a trial.  He is a first offender, aged 29 years old.  He has two minor dependent children aged 5 and 1 year. 

Sentence - possession of a controlled drug and possession with intent to traffic

Conspiracy to import a controlled drug and importation of a controlled drug.

[1]       The convict, Nilzo Julia Tembe, has on her own plea been found guilty of trafficking in a controlled drug, namely 5307.7 grams of cannabis by means of transporting the same, contrary to section 7 (1) read with section 2 punishable under section 7 (1) as read with sections 7(4) and 48(1) (a) and with the Second Schedule of the Misuse of Drugs Act 2016.

[1] The convict Mr R.W. Suresh Kumara, being the skipper of the Foreign Fishing HIRUN PUTHA has pleaded guilty to fishing without a fishing vessel licence contrary to Section 11(1) as read with Section 58 of the Fisheries Act 2014 and punishable under Section 58(a) of the same Act.
