Public Offices Act

1. Short title

This Act may be cited as the Public Offices Act.

2. Interpretation

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires—"public office" means an office of emolument in the public service as defined in Paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 to the Constitution.

3. Delegation of President's powers

(1)The powers in respect of public offices vested in the President by section 62(1) of the Constitution may be delegated by the President by order published in the Gazette.
(2)delegation under subsection (1) may—
(a)be made subject to such conditions, exceptions and limitations as are specified in the order;
(b)be made either generally or with respect to any particular public office or class of public offices; and
(c)be revoked or varied by a subsequent order made in like manner.
(3)A delegation under subsection (1) shall not prevent the exercise by the President of any power so delegated.
