Road Transport (Exemption from Registration and Licence Fees) Regulations

1. Citation

These regulations may be cited as the Road Transport (Exemption from Registration and Licence Fees) Regulations.

2. Interpretation

In these regulations—the Agreement” means the Exchange of Notes of 30th December, 1966, constituting an Agreement between the Government of the United Kingdom and the United States concerning the United States Tracking and Telemetry Facilities in the island of Mahe in Seychelles;United States authorities” means the authority or authorities from time to time designated as such by the United States Government for the purposes of these regulations;United States contractor” means any person, body or corporation ordinarily resident in the United States of America, that, by virtue of a contract with the United States Government, is in Seychelles for the purposes of the Agreement, and includes any subcontractor whose operations in Seychelles are confined solely to performing work for the purposes of the Agreement and who is, for the purposes of these regulations, designated as such by the United States authorities after consultation with the Minister.

3. Exemption from registration and licence fees

No fee shall be payable in respect of registration or licensing for use in Seychelles of motor vehicles belonging to the United States Government or United States contractors and licence fees. is to be used for purposes connected directly with the establishment, maintenance or operation of the facilities with which the Agreement is concerned.

4. Certificate from U.S. authorities

A duly authenticated certificate from the United States authorities stating that a motor vehicle belongs to the United States Government or United States contractors and is to be used for purposes connected directly with the establishment, maintenance or operation of the facilities with which the Agreement is concerned shall be sufficient proof of the facts stated therein.
